When you want to move blogger to a self hosted Wordpress then you would need the following. A weblog which is blogger driven and also you should install a complete version of Wordpress 2.0. If you have a notepad it is good otherwise any basic text editor would do.

The advantage of using self-hosted Wordpress is that it will redirect the visitors to your site no matter what their browser is. It will also redirect the visitors to the most important page of your blog on the Wordpress.

For doing it first you need to save the blogger template. For this you need to click on the ‘Template’ tab and then highlight the text and then paste the text into a text editor and save it. Then back up the date from the blogger. For this you need to follow the directions given on the blogger for backing up the data. Then import the data from the blogger into the Wordpress. For this you need to go to the admin area of Wordpress and then select the "Import" tab and then select blogger as the type of the blog that you are importing. Now you need to prepare the Wordpress host so that it can redirect the content from the blogger and then you need to modify the blogger template so that you can include the redirects. For redirecting the content you need to have a file in the text editor known as blogger.php and then put the text http://www.yoursite.com/blog/ in it and then replace it with the root location of the Wordpress blog. Then save the PHP source from the blogger.php and move it in the server.

Now this file will redirect the user to the corresponding entry on the Wordpress and if it fails to find the same then it will redirect the visitor to the root of the blog. For modifying the blogger template so that the redirects are included you need to open the text file which has the blogger template and then open and save it as a new file. This will redirect the visitors on the root of the Wordpress blog if the visitors are on the main or the archive page on the blogger site.
